The news of day. You are hearing (seeing) it everywhere.
President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace prize. Wow!

All anyone can talk about is ‘why’?

Perhaps he will earn it someday. Perhaps President Obama really will achieve peace, somewhere. So far, he’s just in the beginning stages. Frankly, this must have come as quite a surprise to President Obama, too.

It seems Obama must have been nominated just days after his inauguration. So was the prize given just because he is the first American President with African-American roots? Or because he was the first to use the Internet effectively to rally support? Certainly as of February 2009, the nomination was premature.

Well let’s just hope this inspires America’s allies and adversaries to work more enthusiastically with our President and Secretary of State to bring about peace. Somewhere. Anywhere! Or perhaps everywhere.

This is a big mandate to live up to. Whew!

Regardless. It’s a great honor – both to Barak Obama and to the people of the United States of America.
