Dear Family,

Hooray! Tax season is over. For those of us making a living doing tax returns, it’s quite a relief. Just as it is for those of you who agonized until the very last minute before finally filing and paying those final balances due. At least it’s over – for a while.

Remember, though, this is a good time to grab your Tax Pro and have them sit down with you to do planning for this year. There’s still time to correct any errors you might have made, or to offset gains you’ve managed to generate, or to help avoid penalties on unpaid estimated tax returns.

Well, it’s that time of year again. The Santa Anas are back. They are the hot, dry winds, that in other places are called scirrocco, khamsin, or Congress.

They are still deliberating on what laws to extend, and what to let go by the wayside. Looks like there will be an estate tax extension at the current levels. And there’s still talk about extending the first time homebuyers credit for another six months. Keep your fingers crossed.

They have partially passed a health care bill . It’s fully expected to pass next week. We’ll talk about it when we have a final version.
